Govt frames five pronged strategy to bring back blackmoney stashed abroad

The government has framed a comprehensive five pronged strategy to bring back the country's money illegally stashed abroad.

In a written reply in the Rajya sabha on Thursday, Minister of State for Finance S.S.Palanimanickam said that these include joining the gobal crusade against black noney, creating an appropriate legislative frame work and setting up institutions for dealing with the illicit funds.

The Minister said that the Income Tax department has taken several punitive and deterrent steps to unearth unaccounted money and curb tax evasion.

The Minister said that necessary is being taken as and when any credible information regarding any undisclosed transaction is received so as the bring back untaxed amount. Mr. Palanimanickam however, said that no time frame can be fixed to bring back black money stashed abroad as drive against tax evasion is an ongoing and continuous process.
