The Government today said it is formulating a new production policy to enhance indigenous manufacture of defence equipment. The Defence Minister, Mr A K Antony informed the Rajya Sabha, in a written reply, that the move is aimed at reducing the quantum of import of such equipment by developing indigenous capabilities. He also said that steps are being taken to promote private sector participation in developing defence equipment.
