The government has formulated a scheme for construction of storage godowns through private entrepreneurs, Central Warehousing Corporation and State Warehousing Corporations.
According to an official release issued in New Delhi, a capacity of about 151 lakh tonnes is to be created under the scheme in 19 states. These include Andhra Pradesh, Chattisgarh, Bihar, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Kerala among others.
The release further stated the scheme also offers a guarantee of ten years for assured hiring to the private entrepreneurs. AIR correspondent reports, the tenders have been finalized for creation of storage capacity of 69 lakh tonnes by the private entrepreneurs.
