Govt formulates Route Dispersal Guidelines to improve air connectivity

The government has formulated Route Dispersal Guidelines to improve air connectivity across the country including the un-served and under served areas. Under the guidelines certain flights are obligated to be undertaken to remote and regional areas.

Giving this information in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha, on Tuesday, the Minister of State for Civil Aviation, Mr. G.M. Siddeshwara said the remote and regional areas include North-Eastern states, Jammu and Kashmir, Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Lakshadweep Islands.

He further said the government has taken several measures to help the aviation industry so that benefits percolate down to common man. The steps include persuading state governments to reduce VAT on Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF).
