Govt forms NCFC to provide in season crop forecasts, assessment of drought situation

The Government has set up National Crop Forecast Centre, NCFC, to provide in season crop forecasts and assessment of drought situation.

Inaugurating the Centre in New Delhi today, Agriculture minister Mr Sharad Pawar said that the centre will be responsible for preparing multiple in season crop forecasts using state of the art techniques and methodologies for selected major crops.

Mr Pawar said the centre would work towards inclusion of additional crops in crop forecasts and sub-districts level moderate to high resolution drought assessment in the entire country.
