Govt forms Metro Advisory Board

Government has set up a Metro Advisory Board to lay down recommendations for various aspects of Metro designing and expansion as a public transport. The Board will be headed by the Urban Development Secretary Dr.

Sudhir Krishna and will have five members. Talking to newsmen in New Delhi Mr. Krishna said, in the initial stage, the Board will carry studies in 12 cities having over 20 lakh population. The cities include Ahmedabad, Surat, Kohima, Dharwad, Bhubneswar, Mysore, Jaipur, Vijaywada, Nanded, Patna, Delhi and Jammu.

Mr. Krishna said that these Metros will have world class facilities and the property may be utilised for various commercial purposes to earn revenue for Metro.The first meeting of the Board will be held on 29th of this month in Lucknow.
