Govt for periodic revision of minimum wages

Labour Minister has advocated periodic revision of minimum wages of workers. Mallikarjun Kharge has also called for timely redressal of their grievances to maintain a harmonious relationship between workers and employers. He said this while addressing a crucial tripartite meeting in New Delhi yesterday to review the actions taken in cases of the reported violent incidents in the industrial units in Delhi and National Capital Region in the recent past. Underlying the need for realistic implementation of labour laws, Mr Kharge said that industrial progress is impossible without industrial peace and harmony. He appealed for maintaining continuous dialogue between Employers’ and the Workers’ Unions and stressed the need for mutual trust and cooperation between the two parties.The representatives of Workers’ and Employers’ organisations expressed their views on maintaining industrial peace and harmony and related issues like payment of minimum wages, contract labour, implementation of labour laws, registration of trade unions, social security during the meeting.
