Power Minister RK Singh today said Government is committed to provide 24×7 power to people and is focusing on electrifying remaining 2000 villages. <br/><br/>Addressing conference of Power and New and Renewable Energy Ministers of States and Union Territories in New Delhi, Mr Singh said, a new power ecosystem is being created and Government is planning for prepaid metres with charging facility through mobile. <br/><br/>He said, power sector needs more reforms. The Minister said, renewable energy is the future energy and it will surpass fossil fuels. He said, India has taken pledge before the International community to take its renewable power capacity to 175 gigawatts by 2022. <br/><br/>The aim of this conference is to review the implementation of various ongoing schemes and programmes and deliberate on a host of issues pertaining to power and renewable energy sectors.<br/><br/>Ministers and Secretaries of the States and Union territories and senior officials of the two sectors and Public Sector Undertakings under them are attending the conference to review of latest progress on important schemes and discuss issues on power distribution, transmission, conservation.<br/><br/>Discussions also focusing on Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Sahaj Bijli Har Ghar Yojana (SAUBHAGYA) and Ujwal DISCOM Assurance Yojana (UDAY).
