Centre has favoured cancellation of allocation of coal blocks, which had been declared as illegal by Supreme Court.

The government urged the Supreme Court to decide the fate of the 218 coal blocks as the country was going through a severe power crisis.

Meanwhile, companies who were allocated coal blocks have pleaded with the apex court not to cancel the allocations without hearing them.
