Government has set a target of attracting Rs 25 lakh crore investment in road, transport and shipping sectors in the next five years. In an exclusive interview to All India Radio, Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari said the investment will contribute to two to three percent in country's GDP. He said through this investment the Centre is aiming at generating four crore direct and indirect jobs. Highlighting his Ministry's achievements in the last two years, Mr. Gadkari said when NDA came to power, 403 projects were stuck due to environment clearances and other issues . He said now steps are being taken to remove the hurdles in their implementation. Mr. Gadkari said his ministry is also taking steps to create inland waterways which will help cut down transportation cost in freights movement.
