The Union Cabinet today approved the extension of Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojna to all registered domestic workers in the country. Briefing reporters after the meeting, the Information and Broadcasting Minister Mrs. Ambika Soni said the scheme is expected to cover 47.50 lakh workers across the country. An estimated three hundred crore rupees will be spent on implementation of the programme in four years time. Information and Broadcasting Minister Mrs. Ambika Soni said, the scheme envisages smart-card based cash less health insurance cover upto 30 thousand rupees in any empanelled hospitals in the country. The funds will be allocated from the National Social Security Fund for Unorganised Workers. The premium will be shared by the Central and the State Governments in the ratio of 75 : 25. In the case of North-Eastern States and Jammu and Kashmir the ratio is 90:10.She said that most of these workers are poor, vulnerable, illiterate and unskilled and do not understand the urban labour market. Responding to questions, Union Labour Minister Mallikarjun Kharge said a task force set up by the Centre had recommended to cover these workers under the Yojna and they have to provide two proofs to support their claim to be categorized under this category. In yet another decision, the Cabinet gave its nod to operationalise the National Mission for justice delivery and Legal Reforms. The objective of the Mission is to increase access to justice by reducing delays and arrears in the system and enhance accountability through structural changes by setting performance standards. In another important decision, the Cabinet Committee on Infrastructure today approved the implementation of the road project for the development of four laning of Jabalpur-Lakhanadone section on National Highway seven in Madhya Pradesh. The project is estimated to cost over nine hundred crore rupees.
