Govt explores possibility of linking Poonch in Jammu Division through Railways :Prithvi Raj Chouhan

Government is exploring the possibility of linking border district Poonch in Jammu Division through Railways . This was stated by Union Minister of State for Kashmir Affairs, Mr Prithivi Raj Chouhan while addressing a public meeting in Poonch yesterday. He said that Railways is the best means for accelerating development, adding that connecting far-flung areas through railways, including border areas could go a long way in setting in the pace of socioeconomic development. Mr. Chouhan also referred to the proposed road for linking Poonch with world famous Gulmarg resort in the Valley. He said the work on the historical Mughal road was in full swing and feasibility for connecting Loren area of border district Poonch with Gulmarg was also being studied. He said the proposed road would help in promoting tourism, trade and commerce with the rest of the state. <br/> Earlier, Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee Chief , Professor Saif-ud-Din Soz in his address also referred to the proposal about linking Poonch through Railways. He said that a survey for laying the Railway lines has been already conducted and the work for laying the same would be started in near future. <br/>
