A Technical Group of the government has estimated the urban housing shortage in the country as 18.78 million in 2012.

Out of the total, 10.55 million are in economically weaker sections and 7.41 million in low income group category.

This information was given by Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation Minister Ajay Maken in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha today.
