The government today earmarked an additional 2,000 crore rupees for infusion in Air India as part of the state-carrier's financial restructuring.
There will be equity infusion of 2,000 crore in Air India Ltd as part of turn around plan and financial restructuring plan, as per the Supplementary Demand of Grants tabled in the Lok Sabha by finance minister P Chidambaram.
Talking to reporters Finance Minister said government will not need additional borrowings in this current fiscal. Government had budgeted market borrowing at 5.7 lack crore rupees in the current financial year to bridge the expenditure- revenue gap.
Earlier, Mr. Chidambaram had said that the fiscal deficit may go upto 5.3 percent of the GDP as against budget estimate of 5.1 percent for the current financial year.
