<span style="color: #222222;">About fifteen thousand government doctors have gone on indefinite strike since yesterday in Tamil Nadu. Those belonging to the Federation of Government Doctors Association have said they will attend to only the cases of emergencies, labour wards and cath labs and would not treat outpatients and those in other inpatient-wards. However, another body, the Tamil Nadu Government Doctors Association has said they would strike work only for two days, from October 30, to highlight their demands.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;"><br />'' The demands include time-bound promotion, pay parity with their peers in other states and restoring fifty per cent quota in postgraduate medical education for Government doctors. The formal talks and lobbying through informal means failed to resolve the issue. </span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">AIR correspondent reports, the state health minister Dr C Vijayabhaskar has appealed to the doctors to return to work as there is a spike in fever and dengue cases in the state. The administration claims that sufficient measures are put in place to attend to the patients. Cases requiring emergency medical and surgical interventions are being given priority. The Opposition parties have urged both the sides to find a solution to avoid inconveniences to the patients. </span><br />
