The government has directed the state governments to streamline the functioning of Targeted Public Distribution System (TPDS). It also asked the states to improve the monitoring mechanism and vigilance. Giving this information in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha today, the Minister for Food and Public Distribution, Mr. Sharad Pawar said the Centre has also directed the states to improve the efficiency of Fair Price Shop operations.<br/> <br/>
