The government on Wednesday said that it was determined to ensure passage of Lokpal Bill in the Winter Session of Parliament. Addressing a press conference ahead of the session in New Delhi, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal said that the government will have an open mind and will give a very serious thought to the report of the Standing Committee going into the Bill.
Mr. Bansal said, it is a priority Bill for the government. The minister said he expected that the Standing Committee headed by Abhishek Manu Singhvi to submit its report by month-end. He said government stands totally committed to root out corruption but it cannot be done through one instrument or one law and it requires various measures.
Mr Bansal said, 31 Bills including Lokpal Bill, the Judicial Standards and Accountability Bill, the Seeds Bill among others would be taken up during the session. AIR correspondent reports the session beginning on November 22, will provide 21 sittings spread over a period of 30 days.
