Government today denied the presence of a drug-resistant bacteria, superbug, in Delhi's public water system and said that India is being unnecessarily singled out in the matter. Denying the allegation, Director General of Indian Council for Medical Research, V M Katoch said, India is wrongly blamed in the matter. He said, the motives are not scientific.Meanwhile, Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit urged people not to panic as the Delhi Jal Board has very categorically denied the charges. One of the authors of the Lancet study Mark Toleman has alleged that the Indian government is suppressing the truth about the presence of superbug in Delhi's public water system by threatening its own scientists.
