Govt denies embarking on withdrawing diesel and electrical engines by replacing with solar power based engines in Railways

<span style="color: #222222;">The Government today denied that it has embarked on withdrawing the diesel and electrical engines by replacing these with solar power-based engines in the Railways on the line of some other countries. This information was given by Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw in a written reply in the Lok Sabha today.<br />''<br />''On the question of the time for phasing out of diesel and electrical engines, he said at present, complete phasing out of diesel and electric locomotives is not under consideration.<br />''<br />''In reply to another question, Mr Vaishnaw said six thousand 132 youmg persons have been inducted for training under Rail Kaushal Vikas Yojana (RKVY). He said RKVY is a skill development programme for the unemployed youth of the country to impart technical training in various trades to enhance their employability and entrepreneurship.<br />''<br />''The Minister said jobs in Railways are through open competitive examinations and, therefore, candidates cannot be given jobs based on this training. However, this programme is to enhance the skill of a person so that he or she can easily get a job or can start his or her own startup.</span><br />
