Govt. denies Chinese involvement in arms supply to Maoists

The government today denied having said that Chinese government was involved in the supply of arms to Maoists. A Home Ministry spokesman said that the Home Secretary Mr. G.K Pillai had not been quoted correctly on the issue. The spokesman said Mr. Pillai had simply said that small arms made in China had been illegally brought by arms smugglers to India and supplied to Maoist groups and this observation was based on facts. He said that at no point did Mr. Pillai say that Chinese Government was involved in the supply of arms to Maoists.<br/>
