The government has decided to strip former Haryana DGP SPS Rathore of his police medal. The decision was taken at a meeting, chaired by Union Home Secretary G K Pillai in New Delhi on Monday. The meeting also decided to put in place a mechanism for automatic withdrawal of such honours to convicted police officers. AIR correspondent reports that such honours are given to police officers by the President on the recommendation of the state governments.<br/>
