Govt decides to give academic equivalence to ITI passouts

Skill Development Minister Rajiv Pratap Rudy has said a historic decision has been taken to give academic equivalence to ITI passouts.<br/><br/>Briefing media on two years of NDA government, the Minister said for the first time, ITI pass outs will have glittering convocation ceremonies and Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the first such convocation.<br/><br/>He said his Ministry will promote entrepreneurship to aspiring entrepreneurs in ITIs. <br/><br/>The Minister said Prime Minister will chair the first review meeting of National Skill Development Mission on 2nd June.<br/><br/>Mr Rudy opined that Make In India will not be successful in India until enough makers are created in India. <br/><br/>He said there has been an increase of 36.8 percent in skilling in the country in one year. The Minister announced that a National Board for Skills Assessment and Certification is being established.<br/><br/>He said they are planning to use community radios, DTH and online portals in skill development.<br/><br/>Saying that there is a complete disconnect between jobs and job seekers in India, Mr Rudy informed that Labour Management Information System portal is being developed to be database of skilled workforce.<br/><br/>This will bridge the disconect between the supply and demand of skilled workforce, he said.
