The government has suspended the Indian Amateur Boxing Federation, IABF and de-recognised the Archery Association of India for alleged irregularities in the conduct of elections. Announcing this at a Press conference in New Delhi Sports Minister Jitender Singh said, a notice will be issued to the Boxing Federation to hold fresh elections within 15 days failing which the association will be de-recognised. An official release said, the Archery Association has violated the age and tenure restrictions prescribed in the Sports Code. The international Boxing Association had earlier suspended the IABF alleging possible manipulation in its recent elections.
