Government has cut interest rate on various small savings schemes like PPF, Kisan Vikas Patra and Sukanya Samriddhi by 0.2 percentage point. The interest rates has been cut for January to March quarter. <br/><br/><br/>In a statement, Finance Ministry said, investments in the public provident fund scheme which used to fetch annual rate of 7.8 per cent, will now attract 7.6 percent. Annual interest on Kisan Vikas Patra will be 7.3 percent as against current 7.5 per cent. <br/><br/><br/>Similarly deposits in Sukanya Samriddhi Account Scheme will earn 8. 1 percent annual interest as against 8.3 per cent. There will be no change in the rate of interest on 5-year Senior Citizens Savings Scheme and will continue to yield 8.3 per cent annual.
