Minister for Communications and Information Technology Kapil Sibal today said the government is creating necessary IT infrastructure in the country to empower people. Inaugurating the World IT Forum meet in New Delhi, Mr Sibal said government's scheme of National Optical Fiber Network (NOFN) for providing Broadband connectivity to each gram panchayat in the country will be completed in another two and half years.
Mr Sibal said India has still a huge market for mobile phones though there are over 900 milion mobile connections in the country. The minister said the National Knowledge Network to connect over 30000 colleges around the country, once completed will be of immense help to students.
