Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Sarabananda Sonowal has said the government is trying to create more infrastructure facilities to promote hidden sport talent among the youth, particularly in tribal areas. Responding to supplementaries during the Question Hour in the Lok Sabha, he said it is the concerted effort of the government to create such facilities at block level in consultation with the state governments.The Minister also informed that Sports Authority of India, SAI is implementing a number of sports promotional schemes to identify and nurture sports talent across the country. They include SAI National Academies, Training Centers, Army Sports Companies etc. He said that competitions from block level to national level will be organised every year under Rajiv Gnadhi Khel Abhiyan. He also informed that the Members of the Parliament were asked to spare at least ten per cent of the Local Area Development Fund for creating sports infrastructure in their constituencies.
