Govt continues to procure Kharif crops at its MSP from farmers

In the ongoing Kharif Marketing Season, Government continues to procure Kharif crops at its MSP from farmers as per its existing MSP Schemes.<br />'' <br />''Paddy procurement for Kharif 2020-21 has progressed smoothly in the procuring 15 States and 2 UTs with purchase of nearly 413 Lakh Metric Tonnes of paddy against the last year corresponding purchase of over 337 Lakh Metric Tonness showing an increase of 22.25 per cent over last year. Out of the total purchase, Punjab alone has purchased 202.77 Lakh Metric Tonnes till the close of procurement season in the state on 30th of last month which is 49.10 per cent of total procurement in the country.<br />'' <br />''About 48.56 Lakh farmers have already been benefitted from the ongoing Kharif Marketing Season procurement Operations with MSP value of over 77 thousand 957 Crore rupees.<br />'' <br />''Further, based on the proposal from the States, approval was accorded for procurement of 51 Lakh Metric Tonnes of Pulse and Oilseeds of Kharif Marketing Season 2020 for the 11 States under Price Support Scheme.  Further, sanction for procurement of 1.23 Lakh Metric Tonnes of Copra the perennial crop for Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Kerala was also given.<br />'' <br />''Government through its Nodal Agencies has procured over 1 lakh 95 thousand 8 hundred 99 Metric Tonnes of Moong, Urad, Groundnut Pods and Soybean having MSP value of over 1 thousand 50 Crore rupees benefitting 1 lakh 8 thousand 3 hundred 10 farmers in Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Haryana and Rajasthan.<br />'' <br />''Similarly, 5089 Metric Tonnes  of copra the perennial crop having MSP value of over 52 crore rupees has been procured benefitting 3 thousand 9 hundred 61 farmers in Karnataka and Tamil Nadu as against the last year corresponding purchase of over 293 Metric Tonnes of copra. In respect of Copra and Urad, rates are ruling above MSP in most of the major producing States. The State and UT Governments are making necessary arrangements for commencement of procurement from the date as decided by the States based on the arrivals in respect of Kharif Pulses and Oilseeds.<br />'' <br />''<span style="color: #222222;">Procurement operations of seed cotton (Kapas) under MSP are going on smoothly in 10 States. 57 lakh 83 thousand 122 cotton bales valuing over 16 thousand 8 hundred 65 Crore rupees has been procured benefitting 11 lakh 24 thousand 2 hundred 52 farmers.</span><br />

In the ongoing Kharif Marketing Season, Government continues to procure Kharif crops at its Minimum Support Price from farmers as per its existing MSP Schemes.<br />''<br />''About 32.92 lakh paddy farmers have benefitted from Kharif Marketing Season Procurement Operations with MSP value of over Rs. 63,563 crore.<br />''<br />''Agriculture Ministry said, paddy procurement for the current Kharif season has progressed smoothly in Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Telangana, Uttarakhand, Tamil Nadu, Chandigarh, Jammu and Kashmir, Kerala, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Bihar.<br />''<br />''It said, over 336 Lakh Metric Tonnes of paddy have been procured against the last year corresponding purchase of around 280 Lakh Metric Tonnes.<br />''<br />''This shows an increase of 20.27 per cent over last year.
