Government has constituted a five-member expert committee on Telangana issue. The committee will be headed by former Supreme Court Judge B N Srikrishana. An Official press release said that the terms of the reference for the committee will be drafted after the consultations with the Chairman of the Committee and it will hold consultations on the situation in Andhra Pradesh with all sections of people and different political parties and groups.<br/><br/>The other members of the Committee are Prof (Dr) Ranbir Singh, Vice Chancellor, National Law University, Delhi, Dr Abusaleh Shariff, Senior Research Fellow, International Food Policy Research Institute, Delhi, Dr (Ms) Ravinder Kaur, Professor, Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, IIT, Delhi Vinod K Duggal, former Home Secretary, will be its Member Secretary.<br/><br/>AIR correspondent Vijay Raina reports that the Home Minister Mr.P.Chidambaram on January 5, had discussions with the political parties from Andhra Pradesh and later announced that a committee will be formed to prepare a road map for dealing with the issue.<br/><br/>Though the terms and reference are yet to be drafted and a debate has begun on the relevance of it. CPI leader Atual Anjan supports the governments move.<br/><br/>Senior BJP leader Arun Jaitely maintains that such issues can be resolved only by a political decision.<br/><br/>Andhra Congress Chief D Srinivas maintains that the decision is in accordance with the earlier assurances given by the Government. All-party Telangana Joint Action Committee and Telangana Rashtra Samiti say they will react to the move only after the terms of reference for the committee. <br/><br/>With the mixed response from the national political parties and those spearheading the movement for carving out a separate state, playing cards close to their chest , it seems the guessing game will continue for now.
