Govt constitutes expert group for modernization Indian Railways

Government has constituted an expert group to recommend ways and means to modernize Indian Railways. The Group to be headed by Advisor to the Prime Minister Sam Pitroda will address issues related to organization, management and resource mobilization and professionalization of manpower in the Railways.

Railways Minister Dinesh Trivedi told reporters in New Delhi today that the group will outline strategies for modernization of Railways using Information and Communication Technology for improving efficiency and safety and augmenting existing capacities of Railways through indigenous development. It will also review the projects and address Public Private Partnership issues. The group is expected to submit its report by the end of this year.
