Govt considering strong measures against Maoists: Home Minister

The all-party meet on naxal violence asserted that there can be no compromise on dealing with it. A resolution adopted at the meeting held yesterday in New Delhi, urged youth to leave the path of violence and pursue their goals through democratic means. The resolution said nothing can be more dangerous than insurgency to overthrow parliamentary democracy and the Constitution of India through violent means. Briefing reporters after the meeting, Home Minister, Sushilkumar Shinde said the Government is considering strong action against left-wing insurgents.
Mr Shinde said that full security will be provided to Congress leaders during the Parivartan Yatra in Chhattisgarh.
In his opening remarks, the Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh called for making concerted efforts to check the violence and ensure that attacks do not recur.
