Govt considering possibility of Industry's participation in project-specific SPVs in Railways

The Government is considering the possibility of Industry's participation in project-specific Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs) in the Railways. A draft cabinet note has been prepared and circulated to the concerned ministries at the Centre. Minister of State for Railways Manoj Sinha stated this in the Lok Sabha today. In a written reply, he informed the house that the Railways is proposing Joint Ventures with the state governments to implement its projects. He said 17 states have so far agreed to form the SPVs. These Joint Ventures can be implemented after cabinet approval.
