The government is considering formulation of a National Employment Policy. Giving this information in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha today, the Labour and Employment Minister, Mallikarjun Kharge said the objective of the policy is to provide a holistic framework towards the goal of remunerative and decent employment in the labour force in a sustainable manner. The framework includes job security, better remuneration and employment retention. He said the policy proposes to include issues relating to macro economic policies, sectoral policies, labour market policies, micro and small enterprises. The Minister said the policy also suggests steps for improving avenues of employment.
