The government is recommending soil test based balanced and integrated nutrient management through conjunctive use of both inorganic and organic sources such as vermin-compost, farm yard manure, biofertilizers, green manure of plant nutrients to ensure judicious use of chemical fertilizers to maintain soil health. <br/><br/>Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Radha Mohan Singh told the Rajya Sabha in a written reply today that the application of recommended doses of chemical fertilizers or pesticides is unlikely to cause harm to soil eco-system including earthworm activity. The Minister said the government is conscious of the importance of regulated and balanced use of chemical fertilizers. He said, the government is implementing the Soil Health Card, which aims at providing all the farmers in the country with the card.
