Govt. confident on passing Lokpal in winter session

Government today expressed confidence that Lokpal Bill will be passed in the winter session of Parliament beginning on Tuesday. The Standing Committee looking into the bill is finalising its recommendations and will submit its report by the month end.

Disclosing this to the media persons in New Delhi today, Minister of state in the Prime Minister Office V Narayansamy said two other bills aimed at curbing corruption are also on anvil.

Giving details of the two other bills, the Minister said, these are Whistle blowers' protection Bill and Right to Citizen grievance redressal bill.

Mr. Narayansamy said standing committee has given its recommendations on the Whistle blowers' bill.

He informed that a number of NGOs and Civil Society members have given their suggestions on the bill and the views of the State governments are still awaited.

The Minister said the legislation will help to address the aspirations and grievances of citizens and deal with the menace of corruption in an effective way.
