The Union Minister of Labour and Employment, Mr Mallikarjun Kharge has said, the government is making all out efforts to eliminate the child labour in the country. Presiding over the 90th Anniversary Celebrations of International Labour Organization (ILO) in New Delhi today, the Minister said, the National Child Labour Projects are converging their efforts with various social sector schemes being run by the government. He said that the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act, 2009 is a significant measure to provide free and compulsory education to all children of the age of six to fourteen years. Lauding the achievements of ILO, the Labour Minister said that it played a significant role in the world of work and now it has been able to gear itself to meet the new challenges. Mr Kharge said that under the Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojana (RSBY) more than one crore Smart Cards have been issued to the BPL families.Speaking on the occasion, the Minister of State for Labour, Mr. Harish Rawat said, the government has also declared a National Policy on Safety, Health and Environment at Workplace in active association with ILO.
