Govt committed towards poverty alleviation : Venkaiah Naidu

Union Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation Minister M Venkaiah Naidu said government is committed towards poverty alleviation in country. Addressing National Conference on Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana-National Urban Livelihoods Mission, Mr Naidu said Prime Minister Narendra Modi take it like misson. He added, for this Mr Modi wants to focus on three areas – funding the unfunded, providing banking facilities, and reaching out to those out of reach.<br/><br/>Mr Naidu added that so far over 5.5 lakh urban poor have been skilled, out of which over one lakh have been provided employment.<br/><br/>Addressing the conference Minister of State for Finance Jayant Sinha said this year government is targeting to disburse 1.8 lakh crore loan under MUDRA scheme, which is 50 percent more than last year. He also said this year, government wants MUDRA scheme to be more inclusive and accessible.<br/><br/>Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Minister Rajiv Pratap Rudy said his ministry is working towards creating an Eco system of language of skills and setting up curriculum for different skills. He added every skill centre in the country should be linked with MUDRA Bank.<br/><br/>On the occasion, Mr Naidu released an E-book on success stories under Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana from various states and Union territories. The day-long National Conference is being held to discuss bottlenecks in implementation of Denndayal Antyodaya Yojana and evolving a more effective way forward.
