Govt committed to vision of safer, stronger and resilient India: Hansraj Ahir

Minister of State for Home Affairs Hansraj Gangaram Ahir has said government is committed to the vision of a safer, stronger and resilient India.<br/><br/>Inaugurating a function in New Delhi to mark the 12th Formation Day of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), he reaffirmed government's commitment to make India disaster resilient.<br/><br/>The Minister appreciated the work done by NDMA in its efforts to mainstream disaster risk reduction in the country. He said India's geographical diversity makes it highly vulnerable to all kinds of disasters. He pointed out that while the NDMA has been able to contain the losses and respond swiftly, and it needs to work even more diligently towards mitigating the impact of disasters. <br/> <br/>Our correspondent reports, NDMA, which was formed after the enactment of the Disaster Management Act 2005, is the apex body in the country mandated to lay down policies, plans and guidelines on disaster management. It has played a leading role in generating awareness on issues related to disaster risk reduction.
