Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee today said the government was committed to take all steps to moderate price rise. Addressing a special session of Pravasi Bharti Divas he said all the necessary steps have been taken to keep inflation at moderate levels. Mukherjee said the stimulus provided by the government to boost the economy in the aftermath of the global financial meltdown, among other things, was also responsible for rising prices.He added that the government had already taken tough action against hoarding to check rising prices, especially of onions.Dewelling upon the measures taken by the govenment to tame prices, he asked Indian diaspora to invest and contribute to country's growth and prosperity.Mr Mukherjee said the government is making efforts to achieve double-digit growth rate and several initiatives have been taken in this direction.
