Govt committed to provide world-class infrastructure: Gadkari

Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari said the government is committed to provide world-class infrastructure in the country, with a target for execution of work worth 25 lakh crore Rupees,in five years. <br/><br/>Talking to AIR, the minister said that work is underway to build 13 world-class expressways in the country and Eastern Peripheral Expressway to decongest Delhi.<br/><br/>It is likely to be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on August 15. He further added that a 12,000 crore Rupees project is underway for developing 900 km of National Highways in Uttarakhand, to improve connectivity to the Char Dham pilgrimage centres — Kedarnath, Badrinath, Gangotri and Yamunotri.<br/><br/>The minister added the work on the project is likely to be completed before 2018 . He said the government is constructing a highway through Uttarakhand for Kailash-Mansarovar to make it easy for people to visit the pilgrimage. <br/><br/>At present it can be reached only through Lipulekh Pass route and Nathu La route.
