Govt. committed to provide affordable & accessible health care to countrymen

Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Gulam Nabi Azad said the Government is committed to provide accessible, affordable and accountable health care to all in the country.<br/>Inaugurating the 9th Asia-Pacific Midwives’ Conference in Hyderabad this evening, the Minister said the National Rural Health Mission has been improving the quality of health services in rural areas and making a difference in every state. He expressed confidence that the maternal mortality rate which was 254 in 2006 would come down much faster with the interventions of the Rural Health Mission. The minister said the nursing services sector would be strengthened with an allocation of Rs 3180 crore during the current plan period to augment availably and quality of services. He further said 250 ANM and GNM Schools would be set up across the country and State Nursing Councils would be strengthened.<br/>
