Govt committed to provide 4.5% reservation to backward Muslims: Minority Affair Minister

Minorities Affair Minister K Rahman Khan said government is committed to provide 4.5 per cent reservation to Backward Muslims on the model of Karnataka and Kerala. Speaking at the annual National Editors Conference in New Delhi yesterday, the Minister said that efforts are on to try to expedite the matter pending before the Supreme Court.

The Minority Affairs Minister also said that Union Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde has promised to set up fast track courts for speedy justice to innocent Muslim youths arrested and languishing in jails on false terror charges. He said the home ministry has strongly supported the view.
