‘Govt. committed to promote Sanskrit’

The government is committed to promote and develop Sanskrit language.

The Prime Minister today said that a number of measures are being taken to encourage the study of Sanskrit language.

Dr. Manmohan Singh was inaugurating 15th World Sanskrit Conference in New Delhi.

He said that Sanskrit has not only some of the greatest classics of world literature, but also a treasure of knowledge on Mathematics, Medicine, Botany, Chemistry, Art and Humanities.

Dr. Singh said that Sanskrit does not belong to any particular race, sect or religion.

The Prime Minister said that it represents a culture that is not narrow and sectarian but open, tolerant and all-embracing.
