The Centre today hoped the proposed mega steel project by South Korean steel major Posco near Paradip in Jagatsinghpur district of Odisha will come up in due course of time.Union Steel Secretary Rakesh Singh told media persons at Bhubaneswar that both the Odisha and the Central government are committed to this mega project in the state even though there has been inordinate delay in setting up the steel project. He said land acquisition and other activities for this largest foreign direct investment project are going on. The Union Steel Secretary also said he will take up the issue of allocation of the Khandadhar mines to Posco with the Union Mines Ministry.Talking about the long term goal for steel production in the country, Singh said the Centre is targeting a production of 300 million tonnes by the year 2025 in two phases.
