Govt committed to make India an attractive filming destination, says I&B Secy

The Information & Broadcasting Secretary Uday Kumar Varma has hailed the unique cinematic approach of Indian Cinema and its global acceptance.
Speaking during a panel discussion in the India Pavilion of Cannes Film Festival he reiterated the Ministry's objective to make India an attractive filming destination.

He said that the Ministry is setting up a Single Window Clearance mechanism for foreign production houses interested in shooting films in India.

Varma also mentioned that a special committee had been set up by his Ministry to review the mandate and functioning of CBFC so as to enable it to deal with contemporary requirements of certification.

With an objective of creating a global footprint for Indian Cinema in its centenary year, the India Pavilion at the Cannes Film Festival in France is organizing a series of panel discussions on contemporary topics related to Indian Cinema where noted Film Directors and Cine critics are participating.

India has been accorded with the status of Special Guest Country in the festival this year.
