Labour and Employment Minister Bandaru Dattatreya on Thursday said that the government is committed to the job security, wage security and social security of the workers.<br/><br/>Briefing reporters in New Delhi after holding a meeting with Director General of International Labour Organisation, ILO Guy Ryder, Mr Dattatreya said, the priority of the government is employment generation through various flagship programmes like Make in India and Skill India.<br/><br/>He said, his Ministry has decided to amalgamate 43 Central Labour Laws into four labour codes for their simplification and rationalization.<br/><br/>They are Code on Wages, Code on Industrial Relation, Code on Social Security and Code on Safety and Working Conditions.<br/><br/>Mr Dattatreya also informed that recently the bonded labour rehabilitation scheme has been revamped in which the compensation amount has been enhanced.<br/><br/>He said, the government is working on amending the existing Child Labour Act to make it more stringent.<br/><br/>He said, during the meeting with DG,ILO, important issues including the challenges posed by global supply chain, employment generation and social security were discussed. He also informed that the first meeting of the Employment Working Group of BRICS is scheduled to be held on 27th of July in Hyderabad.<br/><br/>Mr Ryder has arrived in India on a five day visit beginning on 5th of this month. He also met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday.<br/><br/>ILO is the highest tripartite UN body on labour matters.
