Govt committed to ensure rightful honour, dignity for Naga people: HM

Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh has said that the Centre is committed to ensure that the Naga people have their rightful honour, dignity and pride of place.<br/><br/>Addressing Naga Students at a function in New Delhi today, Mr Singh said, India cannot be great unless the Naga brothers and sisters share the sense of greatness. <br/><br/>Expressing confidence that the enduring peace in Naga areas is not far away, Mr Singh said, the initiative to resolve the Naga issue, for once and all, has made good progress in past two years. <br/><br/>He said, presence of Nagas enriches intellectual and cultural fabric of national capital and it is heartening to see Nagas excelling in all walks of life. <br/><br/>Mr Singh said, he is a great admirer of the Naga people, their braveries, their strong sense of pride in themselves and their unique culture. He said, Naga Freedom Fighters like Jadonang and Rani Gaidinliu gave their lives fighting the British.<br/><br/>The Minister also commended students organisations Naga Students' Union, Delhi saying it is doing a great service to Naga students and more so to the freshers coming to Delhi.<br/><br/>The Minister said, Delhi Police has recruited over 450 young boys and girls from North-East in the last one year. Mr Singh said, Special Cell in Delhi Police has been created to address day-to-day security concerns of people from North-East and it is headed by a Joint Commissioner of Police from the North-East.<br/><br/>He said, If the people from North-East have any suggestions that can strengthen their sense of security they are free to bring it to his notice.
