Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Col Rajyavardhan Rathore has said that government is committed to empower local communities through Community Radio.<br/> <br/>He yesterday said, his Ministry recently increased the subsidy for setting up Community Radio Station from 50 per cent to 90 per cent in the North Eastern States and 75 per cent in other states subject to a maximum limit of 7.5 lakhs rupees.<br/> <br/>He said, varied set of participants including Universities and NGOs have been permitted to set up Community radio stations to make it more participatory. The Minister stated this during a meeting with UNESCO delegation led by Mr Frank La Rue, Assistant Director General for Communication and Information in New Delhi.<br/>
