The Government today reiterated its commitment to create sustainable habitat for medicinal plants. <br/><br/>Herbal gardens are to be set up throughout the country for this purpose. <br/><br/>Giving this information in the Lok Sabha today, Minister of State for Ayurveda and Yoga, Shripad Yesso Naik said, medicinal plants are a major source for manufacturing alternative medicines in the country. <br/><br/>The annual consumption of medicinal plants touched five lakh metric tonnes in 2014-15. <br/><br/>Mr. Naik said, farmers are being encouraged to grow medicinal plants on a large scale in their fields.
