Govt. committed to bring back black money stashed in foreign banks: Antony

The Government on Thursday said that it will do everything possible to trace the black money stashed by Indian nationals in foreign banks. Defence Minister A. K. Antony said that government is committed to bring back to the country black money. He was talking to reporters in New Delhi after giving away NCC investiture awards. On the question of Adarsh Housing scam, Mr Antony said, appropriate action will be taken after the CBI completes its probe into the issue.Earlier, the Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh said, information with Government on black money cannot be made public due to treaty obligations. His comments came close on the heels of the Supreme Court pulling up the government for withholding information on black money stashed in foreign banks. The apex court yesterday said that it is not just limited to tax evasion but a mind boggling crime amounting to theft and plunder of national wealth having security ramifications.
