Secretary in Defence (Production) Dr Ajay Kumar has said, the Government is coming up with a new Defence policy soon. <br/><br/>Dr Kumar informed this on Saturday while addressing a gathering after presenting Society of Defence Technologies (SODET) awards at the Bharat Dynamics Limited, Bhanur Center near Hyderabad. <br/><br/>Stating that it is the time for moving beyond Self-Reliance, he stressed the need for the country having a goal of producing defence products not only for itself but also to export to other countries. <br/><br/>He said, the government is formulating an action plan in this direction. <br/><br/>Mr Kumar also said a Defence Industrial Corridor is being set up for coordination between various departments in Defence sector. <br/><br/>Stating that the Government is giving lot of emphasis on defence production in the country, he said, India is one among top ten countries in the world in terms of Defence capabilities. <br/><br/>He said, the government has spent about Rs. 45 thousand crore for acquiring advanced defence technology during the past few years. <br/><br/>He added that the relevance and the value of SODET Awards is going up as the future lies in the technology.<br/><br/>Earlier, Dr Ajay Kumar presented Technology Development and Technology Innovation Awards constituted by SODET.
